Why infrastructure equity?

We seek to make equity investments in core and core-plus infrastructure assets focusing on mid-market opportunities predominantly in the United States. Operating as the John Hancock infrastructure team, part of Manulife Investment Management's private markets platform, we’ve been investing in and managing diversified portfolios of infrastructure investments for more than 30 years. We raised our first infrastructure equity fund, John Hancock Infrastructure Fund, for institutional clients in 2018.

Philosophy

We seek to invest in core and core-plus infrastructure assets that provide long-term, predictable cash flows. We also invest opportunistically alongside experienced managers and operators in value-add assets that offer downside protection through contractual provisions or deal structuring1. Our direct infrastructure equity strategy is grounded in our position as a trustworthy and reliable long-term partner—with risk-based investment underwriting backed by Manulife and John Hancock—which can lead to differentiated deal flow. Our diverse network of strategic operators, developers, and financial sponsors produces infrastructure opportunities across the risk/return spectrum. Our industry experience and expertise along all points in the value chain, along with our extensive equity and debt portfolio provide market insight and relationships across the infrastructure sector.
